Four or more steady taps gives the best estimate.
Press the Tap the beat button, or the space bar, on each beat while the song plays. The counter averages the gaps between your last twelve taps, so the number settles the longer you tap. Pause for more than 2.5 seconds and it starts a fresh count.
Once you have a tempo, use the BPM to ms calculator for delay times, or compare two songs in the compatibility checker.
The tempo tool measures the interval between your taps. The key tool translates a key you already know into Camelot notation. It does not upload or automatically inspect a recording.
Tap the main kick or snare pulse for at least eight beats. If your result looks half or double the expected tempo, try tapping twice or half as often. Many tracks can reasonably be counted both ways.
